While volunteering can be dirty work\, it greatly assists in keeping the sanctuary animals safe\, happy and healthy. \nEdgar’s Mission is a not-for-profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals with a vision for a humane and just world for all. \nThrough education\, outreach\, advocacy\, community enrichment and tours\, Edgar’s Mission encourages people to expand their circle of compassion to include all animals. \nWhat a Day Looks Like on A helping Hands Day \n\n8:30am – Arrive at Edgar’s Mission\n8:45am – Induction and safety briefing\n9.00am – Sanctuary tasks – these change each week and can include mucking out shelters\, raking\, weeding\, painting\, etc.\n12.00pm – Lunch break\n12.45pm – Further sanctuary tasks\n2.15 pm – Conclude your day\n\nHelping Hands Volunteer Requirements \n\nParticipants must be 18 years and over. For safety reasons\, 15- to 17-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.\nA level of fitness and mobility to be able to complete tasks involving bending and lifting\nAbility to work independently and part of a team\nWillingness to work quietly to create a peaceful environment for our residents\nComfortable around animals of all sizes\, including chickens\, goats\, and pigs\n\nOut of respect for our animal residents\, we request that no animal products make their way onto the sanctuary grounds via your lunch box (this includes meat\, dairy and eggs). DESCRIPTION:Join members of the Animal Justice Party\, North West and Western Sydney Regional Groups for a peaceful protest in response to the Sydney Rodeo. \nRodeos subject animals to fear\, stress and physical harm for “entertainment”. Through this protest\, we’ll be speaking with the community about the reality of rodeos and inviting people to support a ban in NSW.\nRodeos are also often marketed as “family fun\,” but the reality is built on the fear\, stress\, and physical harm of vulnerable animals. We believe children should be taught empathy and respect\, not that it’s acceptable to terrorise animals for entertainment. \n Location:\nCivic Plaza\, outside Max Webber Library\nFlushcombe Road\, Blacktown\n Date:\nSaturday 18 April 2026\n Time:\nAny time between 9:30am – 12:30pm\n(Feel free to join us for as long or as little as you can.) \nWhat you will be doing:\n– Holding posters to raise awareness about the harms caused by rodeos\n– Speaking with members of the public about why rodeos should be banned\n– Inviting people to sign the Animal Justice Party petition calling for a ban on rodeos in NSW\nThis will be a peaceful community protest.
